Hybridisation

CDD India adopts Nature based Systems to ensure water circularity. Nature-based solutions provide environmental solutions to wastewater treatment and safe sanitation practices with infrastructure that is low carbon, consumes less energy, has low resource intensity and contributes to ecosystem services, soil health and Biodiversity.

At CDD India, we champion Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) as a key strategy to ensure sustainable water circularity. These solutions harness natural processes to treat wastewater and promote safe sanitation, delivering low-carbon infrastructure that consumes less energy, reduces resource intensity, and supports ecosystem services, soil health, and biodiversity.

However, implementing NBS systems faces significant challenges globally—especially in densely populated and rapidly urbanizing regions like India and many parts of the Global South—where land availability for wastewater treatment is limited. The adverse land-to-population density ratio makes deploying purely nature-based systems difficult in such contexts.

To overcome these constraints, CDD India pioneers hybridized solutions that integrate green and blue-green infrastructure with conventional treatment technologies. This approach optimizes treatment efficiency and resource recovery within limited space, while meeting stringent regulatory requirements for wastewater treatment, reuse, and recycling.

Our hybridized systems are carefully tailored to diverse geographies and local challenges, blending multiple treatment methods to achieve high-performance outcomes without compromising sustainability. Through lateral integration of complementary technologies, CDD India’s innovative hybrid approach ensures resilient, scalable, and context-sensitive solutions that align with the evolving needs of urban and peri-urban communities.

By combining nature-based principles with smart technological integration, CDD India delivers wastewater treatment systems that are both environmentally sound and operationally effective—contributing to healthier ecosystems and circular water economies across India and beyond.
