Training on Faecal Sludge Treatment Technologies – Towards Sustainable Sanitation


The training programme was held on January 5 & 6, 2016 at CASS Bengaluru which attracted 18 technical staff representing government bodies, private and individual consultants across India. The training programme was conducted in collaboration with Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, and with the support of Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation and BORDA – South Asia.

Experiences on Faecal Sludge Management from Bangladesh

In 2016, BORDA was commissioned to provide “Consulting Services for Sanitation Action Plan and Technology Demonstrations for 30 Pourashavas”. This is an effort supported by the Asian Development Bank intended to provide solutions to Pourashavas in Bangladesh on sanitation and sanitation related services. Through the course of this project, a detailed situation assessment and advisory support was provided to the Government of Bangladesh. 

FSTPs in Bangladesh that have been installed presently as pilot demonstration efforts with funding from international donor agencies for Pourashavas with an effective track record in project implementation. Lakshmipur, one of the few towns, was selected based on its track record for project implementation for a pilot demonstration of FSTP.
